ISO Made Easy

ISO Made Easy cover

In a context of global markets and total quality, it becomes imperative to adopt common principles applicable to all. This is how were born a series of international standards called ISO 9000. Sooner or later, in order to become an important player on the international scene and to satisfy increasingly demanding clients, all businesses and organisations
will have to obtain the ISO certification. But for
many, these principles remain vague and they can hardly foresee their impact and the scale to which
they are applied. Happily, there is "ISO Made Easy" a book dedicated to familiarising the novice with ISO 9000 principles.

"ISO Made Easy" introduces the main concepts
and guidelines applicable to quality management. It presents the process by which these standards are implemented in businesses and organizations. It also discusses consequences that they entail with employees, suppliers and sub-contractors.

Why the name "ISO"?

The word ISO is derived from the Greek word "isos" that means "equal". This word is used as root the prefix ISO in a multitude of terms such as isometric (whose dimensions are equal), isonomy (equal before the law) and in physics for uniformity of crystallization.

From the term equal to the notion of standard, the conceptual path leading to the choice of ISO as a name for the organization overseeing the standards is easy to understand. Furthermore, the name ISO has the advantage of being common to the three formal languages of the organization: English, French and Russian.
